Description
This epic scene captures the spirit of 1992 at 318 – when promoters began using the front room for a second DJ and dancefloor.
The attention to detail is spectacular. The fashion, the baggy pants, there’s even a member of the whistle posse present. The graffiti on the side of the building and in the doorway is also accurate. (And, yes, in ’92 there was indeed a pool table in the front room on the far right.)
Not to mention the national bird of the entertainment district is on full display – the pigeon – in all its glory.
Can you spot the smartphone? That’s right, you can’t, because this was real-time social networking.
If you listen very closely, you can hear the rising sun gently whispering, “Get home soon, little ravers, you have to be at work in a few hours…”
Unfortunately, the little ravers can’t hear the sun’s warning due to the pounding music, which will eventually lead to a permanent ringing sound in their ears.
But they’ll never regret a single moment of it.
The vibes of this venue have been immortalized, compliments of a talented digital artist named Ira Vershina.
An 8×12 print is a convenient size for do-it-yourself framing – with an inexpensive standardized empty picture frame. Proudly display it in your living room so when family visits you’ll have to explain all the crazy shit that went down in this building. Or put it above your bed so you’ll dream in “techno-colour.”
